In watching the value of the Iraqi dinar aginst the AUD over the last 3 years, we’ve noticed that it stands to reason that if the Australian troops are removed from Iraq altogether, then other Western Countries might do the same. The hot top debate of course is who will be put into the White House in the U.S. Presidential Candidate race. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has already declared an exit strategy and dates by mid 2008 have come and gone. Obama, the U.S. Presidential candidate has declared that U.S. troops will be extracted by 2010. Either way, by pulling the troops out of Iraq whether they’re British, Aussie or American- it will create an initial unease and bring the Iraqi Dinar down dramatically in our opinion.
However, with this said, after the initial shock and awe of terrorism threatening the new democratic Country of Iraq subsides, we think that the Iraqi Dinar will bounce back and be a solid investment for years to come.
